About Us
The Nuance Emporium isn't a brand, it's a concept.
The belief in one's ability to create endlessly when given the right tools.
"The journey began long before I knew it had..."
The year is 2014.
I had a Macbook and a cracked version of Ableton Live 8, with which I discovered a love for electronic music production. Entering my freshman year of high school, I met a fellow classmate who shared this passion, but he was far more inclined to the genre of hip-hop; specifically, beatmaking. This peaked my interest because, while I was producing these little house-ish tracks/loops, I was really an avid listener of rap, soul, rnb, and oldies. I was mind blown watching the way in which he chopped up samples he found on YouTube, and I knew that I wanted to do what he was doing. I started getting really into lofi beats and producers like Jinsang and Wun Two, and was inspired to begin the quest of finding samples to rearrange and chop in my own style. A problem arose, however. I had no idea where to search for these rare gems. I used to spend hours combing YouTube trying to find material I loved, but when I did stumble upon something that scratched that sampler's itch, the videos would had 250,000 views, and a thousand comments like "J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Nujabes, Jake One, Dr. Dre, Madlib, Alchemist, and your own grandmother have already used this." Overwhelming...
Well, over the years, through visiting record stores in both my hometown and around the world, I've developed an understanding for how and where to find the hidden diamonds. This sample library is my way of providing producers with easy access to rare, high quality, soul-filled, and meticulously edited musical material to create with.
Gold standard samples teeming with nuance. Composed and chopped, quantized, and mixed to a perfect imperfection.
